Terms of service

The agreement between you and us. We've kept it as plain as we can.

1. The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Sealkept Ltd, based in Dublin, Ireland ("we", "us"), for your use of Sealkept at sealkept.com and in our apps (the "service"). By creating an account, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account.

2. What the service does

Sealkept lets you create messages (letters, voice notes, videos and documents), choose recipients, and set a check-in schedule. If you stop checking in, we follow the release process you configured: reminders to you, optional requests to your trusted verifiers, a soft alert to recipients, and a grace period. After that, we deliver your messages according to the rules you set for each one.

Sealkept is not a will, a legal document service, a medical service or an emergency service. Messages delivered through Sealkept have no legal effect on your estate. Please keep a valid will and tell your executor where it is.

3. Your responsibilities

  • Keep your sign-in details secure and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • Keep your own contact details, and those of your recipients and verifiers, up to date. We can only reach the addresses you give us.
  • Choose check-in, verifier and grace settings that suit your life, and pause the service when you know you'll be unreachable.
  • Make sure you have the right to share the contact details of the people you add, and that your messages don't break the law.

4. The release process

We design the release process to avoid sending anything by mistake, and we take every reasonable step to follow your settings. However, the service relies on email and other networks we don't control, and on the information you give us. We can't guarantee that a message will be received or opened, or that a release will never happen when you are still alive (for example, if you ignore all reminders and your verifiers confirm a release).

Once a message has been delivered, it cannot be recalled.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the service to:

  • harass, threaten or defame anyone, or send content intended to cause distress;
  • send unlawful content, including content that infringes others' rights;
  • send spam or messages to people you don't know;
  • attempt to access other accounts, probe or disrupt our systems, or reverse engineer the service.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where reasonable, we'll tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

6. Your content

You own the messages you create. You give us a limited licence to store, process and deliver them, solely to provide the service. We don't use your messages for marketing or to train AI models.

7. Plans and payment

Sealkept is a paid service; there is no free plan. Every plan includes the full service, including voice notes, videos, documents and verifiers. Prices are shown on our pricing page, include VAT where applicable, and may change; changes apply from your next renewal, and we'll tell you in advance.

Monthly and annual plans renew automatically until you cancel. Lifetime plans are a single payment for the life of the service, as described in our continuity promise.

Payments in US dollars and euros are handled by Creem or Dodo Payments as merchant of record: they sell the plan to you on our behalf, charge any VAT or sales tax and appear on your statement. Payments in rupees are processed by Pine Labs Plural; monthly and annual rupee plans use a UPI Autopay mandate that you can revoke at any time.

If a plan ends and you don't renew, your switch keeps running and anything already sealed is still delivered as you set it up. You can't write, seal or change letters until you choose a plan again.

If you're a consumer in the EU or UK, you have 14 days from purchase to cancel and receive a full refund. If you cancel a monthly or annual plan later, you keep full access until the end of the period you paid for.

8. Cancelling and closing your account

You can delete your account at any time from your settings. Deletion is permanent: your messages will not be delivered and cannot be recovered.

If a plan lapses, your existing messages remain stored and covered by the release process, and check-ins keep working, but you can't add or change messages until you renew.

9. If we stop operating

If we ever decide to close the service, we'll give account holders at least 90 days' notice by email, provide a way to export your messages, and follow the continuity commitments published on our Trust page.

10. Liability

We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

Otherwise, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or €100, whichever is greater.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If changes are material, we'll email you at least 30 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can close your account before then.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring claims in your local courts.
