How it works
Careful by design: how your messages wait until they're needed.
You write. You check in now and then. If you ever stop, a slow, layered process makes sure it's real before anything is delivered.
Before anything happens
You write. You decide who.
Write what matters
Letters, voice notes, videos and documents. Each message is written to one person, and you can edit it whenever life changes.
Choose your recipients
Add the people who should hear from you, with an email address and, if you like, a birthday for birthday deliveries.
Set your rhythm
Choose how often you check in, how many reminders you want, whether a trusted person must confirm, and how long the grace period is.
If you go quiet
Six layers, in order.
This is the exact sequence our switch follows. Any check-in, at any step, resets everything to the start.
01
Check-ins
You check in every week, every month, every three months, or once a year. That can be one tap in the app, one click on the link in your check-in email, a reply of OK to a reminder text or pressing 1 on a reminder call. Each check-in moves your next due date forward.
02
Reminders
If a check-in date passes, we remind you, and keep reminding you up to the number you chose. Reminders are spaced to fit your rhythm: about 12 hours apart on a weekly plan, 48 hours on a monthly plan, and 3 days on quarterly or yearly plans.
03
Trusted verifiers
Optionally, one or two people you trust are asked to confirm that something has really happened. If a verifier says you're fine, the switch pauses for 7 days and you're asked to check in. If you chose no verifiers, this step is skipped.
04
Soft alert
Your recipients receive a gentle note that something may be wrong. It contains nothing personal. Every alert has a link that says "they're okay", which pauses the switch for 7 days.
05
Grace period
Then we wait: 48 hours, 7 days, or 21 days, as you chose. It's one last window for you, or anyone who knows you're safe, to stop the process.
06
Delivery
Only now are messages released. Each recipient gets an email with a private link to their own messages, which open according to the release rule you set for each one.
Release rules
Not everything has to arrive at once.
Each message has its own release rule, so a practical letter can arrive straight away and a birthday video can wait for the day.
- 01
After the grace period
The default. The message is delivered as soon as the grace period ends.
- 02
A month later
Delivered 30 days after release, for words that are easier to hear once the first weeks have passed.
- 03
On their birthday
Delivered on the recipient's next birthday after release. Add their birthday when you add them.
- 04
When a verifier confirms
Held for messages that should only open once someone you trust has confirmed, such as passwords or financial documents.
Pause mode
Away for a while? Pause it.
Travelling somewhere remote, going into surgery or staying in hospital? Pause your switch for 30 days with one tap. No reminders, no alerts, nothing opens. Check-ins resume on their own, or you can resume early whenever you like.

False triggers usually come from lost email access, spam filters, hospital stays, travel or a changed phone; layered reminders, a trusted verifier, a soft alert, a grace period and pause mode stop them, and letters written to be okay if they arrived early add a final layer.

A safe one uses layers, such as repeated reminders, a trusted verifier, a soft alert and a grace period, so that a missed check-in never sends anything by mistake.
